Movie Night • March 10th
Join the community on Friday, March 10th at 7 p.m. for Movie Night. Volunteer Pat Leigh will be showing “Smilla’s Sense of Snow”. There is no charge and everyone is welcome. We hope to serve popcorn, but you can bring your own refreshments if you’d like.
Smilla’s Sense of Snow is a 1997 mystery thriller film directed by Bille August and starring Julia Ormond, Gabriel Byrne, and Richard Harris. Based on the 1992 novel Miss Smilla’s Feeling for Snow (this was also the title of the UK release of the film) by Danish author Peter Høeg, the film is about a transplanted Greenlander, Smilla Jaspersen, who investigates the mysterious death of a small Inuit boy who lived in her housing complex in Copenhagen. Suspecting wrongdoing, Smilla uncovers a trail of clues leading towards a secretive corporation that has made several mysterious expeditions to Greenland. (Wikipedia)
The Mazama Community Club is hosting Scrabble Nights on Tuesday, February 21 and Tuesday March 21. We plan to start at 7 pm, but doors will be open by 6:30 in case you want to come early to socialize. All levels of play are welcome! Coffee and tea will be available or you can bring your own beverage. If you have a Scrabble game set, please bring it. And, if you want to play games but aren’t a Scrabble fan, feel free to bring an alternative game and you might be able to recruit players for that game. Feel free to pass this invitation on to your Scrabble-loving friends. No need to RSVP; if you have questions please contact Linda Schoemaker by phone or text at (509) 996-2625.
